PERUVIAN WALNUT LUMBER - ROUGH RWL
Weight: 3.08 Board Foot WALNUT PERUVIAN 4/4"PERUVIAN WALNUT LUMBER – 4/4" – Live Edge
Rough Cut – Random Widths – Random Lengths
Heartwood tends to be darker than temperate walnut species, with a deep chocolate brown color, sometimes with a purplish hue. May also contain streaks of lighter-colored wood mixed throughout the heartwood, which can sometimes be extensive and result in a high degree of waste. Grain figuring such as curl seems to be much less common than other walnut species. Grain is usually straight but can be irregular. Has a medium to coarse texture and good natural luster.
Perhaps the most fitting name would be Tropical Walnut, yet the term Peruvian Walnut is commonly used among hardwood dealers, even though the Walnut may not always technically come from Peru. Typically easy to work provided the grain is straight and regular. Planer tearout can sometimes be a problem when surfacing pieces with irregular or figured grain. Glues, stains, and finishes well. Peruvian Walnut is rated as moderately durable in terms of decay resistance, though it is susceptible to insect attack.

Board Foot Calculator
The easiest and most common way to calculate board feet is to use a board foot calculator.
Several different board foot calculators are available online or check your app store and download to your phone.
To calculate board feet of lumber, use the following formula:
- Board Feet = Width (inches) x Thickness (inches) x Length (FEET) divided by 12.
Example – For a piece of lumber 2 inches thick, 6 inches wide and 10 feet long, you calculate board feet as follows:
Board Feet = (6 x 2 x 10) divide by 12 = 10 board feet.
If your order requires specifics, call to verify we have exactly what you need.
Example: If you order 100 board feet and need one board 8'6" that is at least 8" wide and one board 10' at least 6" wide – be sure to state exactly what you need.
