A drawer blank consists of basically three components, cut to a specific size(height) and length. The three basic materials are: Particleboard, Vinyl Film and Adhesive.
Particleboard: 12mm thickness, industrial grade, 44 pounds per cubic foot density, meets or exceeds ANSI A 208.1, 1979 Class 2. Surface hardness is 700 pounds, face screw holding pull is 260 pounds, and edge screw holding pull is 22 pounds. The board is double sanded to tolerance.
Vinyl Film: A rigid, nominal 8 mil (0.008") thickness, free from plasitcizer, heavy metals, formaldehyde, adverse to fungus and bacteria, heavily inflammable and self-extinguishing. VCM, 1ppm.
Adhesive: It is a water-soluble vinyl acetate co-polymer emulsion, with no base metals or alloys, in the vinyl acetate/ethylene chemical family. Does not require respiratory protection, and cleans up with warm water and soap.
All BHK drawersides are sealed in an abrasion resistant DuraWrap® surface that stays on for keeps and is easy to clean. This special sealing process ensures surface uniformity without the worry of wrinkles and bubbles or surface edges that peel apart.
Many of the largest manufacturers in the woodworking industry utilize the BHK product to save both time and money. No need for concern over manufacturing and finishing problems. BHK makes drawer making easy! In many cases, BHK Drawers can be made right on the job site. It's easy! Take a BHK Blank, make four straight cuts, then fasten with staples, screws or drilling and doweling. No more expensive labor costs for cutting the raw material to make drawers, grooving for bottoms, finishing or edgebanding. Just a few simple cuts and you have a quality finished drawer.
